Jesus Chameleon [edit]

"Jesus Chameleon" (born B., P. A.; December 22, 1973) is the Pen name of a writer only known as "B., P.A.,” a new American poet part of a new group of emerging poets that identify more with the whole world, rather than a single country, or region of the world. Jesus Chameleon was established on (declares his "date of birth" as) December 22, 1973 but was actually born earlier on one of the Outlying territories of the United States of America.

Although this American poet is relatively new to the world of poetry, his influence has had some impact because of intensive exposure and the Internet

Life and Education [edit]

Early life [edit]

Jesus Chameleon was Baptized a Roman Catholic after his birth on one of the islands in the Marianas prior to the date disclosed in his biographical data from his Facebook page. He was born to Minority parents. His father was a career Military man and his mother was a teacher during the occupation of the Pacific in World War II.

Education and Work [edit]

He was educated in an excellent Public school system and later in both public schools and Private schools for his undergraduate and graduate education from the 1960’s to the early 1990’s and always received awards for highest achievement and commendations for leadership. Part of his schooling was completed in The Orient. In between university and Graduate school, Jesus Chameleon worked as a bureaucratic worker in the local Bureaucracy, part of the Patronage system. While attending undergraduate school, he wrote Prose for a leading magazine about the Micronesia in the Pacific in an issue of Glimpses of Micronesia & the Western Pacific (B. P. A., Journals, 1982) under his original name. Under the same alias, Jesus Chameleon wrote an article (B. P. A., 1983) on “Hualien,” an essay about his travels along the tortuous highway intersecting the Taroko Gorge in the Taroko National Park in Hualien County, Taiwan for a controversial newspaper published by the China Youth Corp, while participating in a China Studies program in cooperation with the National Chengchi University. As a member of the English newspaper at a university in Japan, where he studied language and conducted research, this writer authored an article (B. P. A., Student Newspapers, 1989), an essay about an episode in his father's childhood entitled, “Island to Island, a Few Impressions,” under his real name. Later in the mid-90's, as “Jesus Chameleon”, he wrote an article (Chameleon, Periodicals, 1995) about the well-known Pacific artist, Judy Flores for the now defunct, Tropic Beat Magazine and, around the same period of time, an autobiographical essay (Chameleon, Electronic Blogs, 2013 (Unpublished)) about his Catholic experiences and spiritual growth entitled, "Very Brief Answers on the Public Life of Two (2) Jesuses."

Friending (A Collection of Poems) [edit]

This Chapbook is Jesus Chameleon’s first collection of poems and is originally Unpublished because of the award’s system and the rule on First right of refusal for Publishers, still remains unpublished. Although still a first collection, Internet culture has brought individual pieces in the content of this chapbook to the forefront of the poetry industry. The collection itself selected by former Monbusho Scholarship recipient, Paul Aflague Blas has already been considered for three (3) major poetry awards, thus far, but has yet to garner any of these top poetry prizes. Friending (A Collection of Poems) has already been reviewed for the National Chapbook Fellowship of the Poetry Society of America, the Diode Edition competition, and is under consideration for the Walt Whitman Award of The Poetry Foundation

Literary influences [edit]

Growing up with the influences of the Baby Boom Generation and the influences of the Hippie movement of the 1960’s and the 1970’s, Jesus Chameleon was tested by the times he lived in. The Counterculture and the drug culture severely affected young Jesus Chameleon and his many brothers and sisters. Because of his elder sibling’s original plans to study literature, Jesus Chameleon’s early Poetic influence came from all the great Poets, especially Lord Byron, John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelley. He and the younger members of his family regularly recited and memorized poems together as a fun, learning game.
